Go out to a second hand book shop and look for it. I stumbled across it in the Library and picked it up becuase of the quote on the cover "I'd have given anything to have written Wasp. I can't imagine a funnier terrorists handbook" - Terry Pratchett. There is no way this book would get printed today.

I've a carton sitting next to me as a write this. It is the perfect drink for combatting the slight chill that still sits in the air. Go out and buy a carton and do your bit to keep the Coopers Family Name out of the grubby mits of those Lion Nathan bastards!

Floating the Boat

The old grey matter aint what it used to be (which wasn't all that much anyway) so this is a good way to remind myself what i'm into and maybe spread the word a little bit.

Cherish the new single from breakbeat producer and dj Ils has been an aural addiction for about a month now and i've been getting my fix from a live set he did for Kiss FM that's sitting on my iPod. I've been searching high and low for a copy of his new album Bohemia but have yet to find it. Cherish will be cropping up on every breakbeat mix for the year just like Next Level did a few years back.

David Mancuso is a house party legend from New York. He is currently doing a radio show here that is downloadable. Plenty of funk and jazzy beats from the 70s. Wicked!

Dan Simmons has three books featuring the character Joe Kurtz (Hardcase, Hard Freeze, Hard As Nails). It is pure pulp noir and Kurtz makes Mel Gibson's Porter in Payback look like a girl scout. Easy reading if you like that sort of thing.

John Birmingham's fortnightly column in The Bulletin magazine has recently become must-do reading. This week's column has the greatest sporting description i think i've ever read.

Thanks to the ACT Public Library Service i've discovered the comic book series Fables from the mind of Bill Willingham. All those fictional characters we know and love are now living in exile in New York and having all sorts of problems. It is very different and seeing what has become of Snow White, the Big Bad Wolf, Goldilocks, Jack who climbed the beanstalk and many others through Willingham's slightly warped looking glass is amusing.
